Jimmy Kimmel has posted his reaction to Donald Trump’s continued demands for his firing, after his previous controversial TV suspension.
It has been a year of battles for Kimmel, who has faced both support and backlash for his handling of Trump’s politics on his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show since the POTUS was elected in January 2025.
Here’s a quick recap if you’re not up-to-date with what happened last year.
On 15 September, the host made a few comments on his show in the wake of Charlies Kirk’s assassination, where he discussed the ‘politicisation’ of the former Turning Point CEO’s passing at the hands of suspected shooter Tyler Robinson’s
He also took aim at President Donald Trump’s reaction to Kirk’s death, leading to ABC announcing Kimmel’s show had been suspended ‘indefinitely’.
However, Kimmel’s suspension was lifted soon after, and the 57-year-old made his return to the TV screen
After returning to the silver screen, Kimmel wasted no time in taking aims at Trump, who had celebrated his suspension.
The host first aimed at Trump during his Xmass message then two weeks later by taking apparently the same cognitive test Trump allegedly aced, until he tapered things down.
After the POTUS took to Truth Social on Thursday (30 May) to ask ABC when the late-night host would be fired, Kimmel responded by opening his Thursday night monologue with a little homemade movie.
Trump’s post had him questioning when the ‘seriously unfunny Jimmy Kimmel, who incompetently presides over one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television?’ would be chopped from TV.
Filmed by his wife and Jimmy Kimmel Live executive producer Molly McNearney, the hilarious clip shows McNearney informing Kimmel of Trump’s post.
“This morning, I woke up to my wife shooting video with her phone,” Kimmel said on his show. “She was shooting me to let me know the president gave me another shout-out today.”
